Why Shared Time uses PBL?

SMS/SHS utilizes Project-based Learning with our shared time students to provided an experience that is diverse and unique to each student so they can learn by doing in content areas that are specific and relevant to each student.

EXAMPLES of PBL Projects:

Bird Book - by E. Neilis

GR Ballet - by G. Shook

These examples both had:
  • A form of presentation style. They both used Google slides to show their work and understanding of their goals for their projects. You will need some kind of format to demonstrate and “house” your work. You could use Slides/PowerPoint, a web page, a website that offers digital portfolios, a youtube channel with videos of your work or any other media that can showcase your work and analysis.
  • Artifacts. Images and/or videos were used throughout to show progress and final work. Using both images and videos to show your progression and final work, is a great way to demonstrate your process of learning and ultimately what you did.
  • Self-assessments and reflections. Both students throughout their slides, discussed what they learned (self-assessment) and reflected upon the experiences throughout the process as well as overall the experience.
  • Organization. Both Slides were well organized with thoughtfulness and purpose. It was easy to understand and had a polished presentation of work.
